Telogen Effluvium is a very common form of hair loss and occurs a few months after a major illness or stress on the body, such as surgery or a major infection. It can also happen when there is a sudden or dramatic change in hormone levels in the body, like after having a baby in women. While hair on some parts of the scalp can appear thinner, it is rare to see completely bald areas.
Hair can be lost over a period of weeks or months, but then grows back over the next few months.
